On 10 and 11 September, GEOREVO was glad to take part in the Virtual Geosciences Conference 2025 at the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
Two days at the heart of digital innovation in geoscience: 3D modelling of outcrops, applications of LiDAR and photogrammetry, machine learning, and also virtual reality and immersive experiences that make the field more accessible and more interactive.
Hosted at the University of Lausanne, VGC 2025 brings together researchers, doctoral students and professionals around the same digital tools we use on our own projects: point clouds, digital terrain models and 3D visualisations.
These themes connect directly to our day-to-day practice: our 3D laser scanning and drone photogrammetry produce the same type of data (point clouds, 3D models) as those shown in the sessions on outcrop modelling and LiDAR applications.
Beyond the talks, it is above all the conversations with the international community that inspire us and push us to keep building solutions that combine innovation and sustainability.
Following academic work is also a way of staying alert to emerging methods before they become industry standards. It's in that spirit that we regularly take part in this kind of meeting between research and field practice, alongside other players in Swiss geomatics.
