As part of an intensive course on digital trades in construction, GEOREVO guided a team of trainers and learners through a full 12-day programme on 3D data capture and BIM modelling.
The aim: to pass on a complete professional method, from the field survey through to a workable BIM model.
A course built around the Scan-to-BIM process
The programme was designed to cover the whole chain, from the field to the deliverable.
Data capture by drone — photogrammetry
- Understanding the principles of photogrammetry (GSD, overlap, data quality)
- Preparing and securing a drone mission
- Flying survey missions
- Processing the data in specialist software
- Generating usable orthophotos and point clouds
The goal was full independence in carrying out photogrammetric surveys.
3D capture with a laser scanner
- Settings and good practice in capture
- Organising scan campaigns
- Registering and structuring point clouds
- Quality control of the data produced
The learners worked directly on real cases, to grasp the accuracy and reliability a BIM context demands.
BIM modelling from point clouds
- Preparing and working with point clouds
- Creating a suitable BIM template
- Modelling architecture, structure and building services (MEP)
- BIM coordination and quality control
- Preparing the deliverables
This stage takes you from the raw survey to a structured digital model, true to what exists and ready to use in a collaborative environment.
GEOREVO's expertise
This work shows where GEOREVO sits — at the meeting point of several disciplines:
- Geomatics
- 3D surveying
- Photogrammetry
- Laser scanning
- BIM modelling
Our value lies in command of the whole chain: capture, processing, quality control and modelling.
